Submitting information in forms and emails
Contact UDI via www.udi.no
On UDI's website, you can contact UDI via contact forms and by email.
Forms and emails are sent through encrypted lines.
UDI asks that you do not send sensitive data or information of a private nature via contact forms or by email.
Contact UDI by email
As a general rule, all emails sent to UDI are public.
We keep a public mail journal of all outgoing and incoming correspondence, which normally states the names of the sender and recipient and the date of the document and gives a brief description of the document's content.
Everyone who wishes can request access to the Directorate of Immigration's public mail journal.
Therefore, you should not send us emails with information that you do not want to become public knowledge. If the document contains confidential information, this information will not be visible in the mail journal and it will be blanked out before access to the document is granted.
The use of email has weaknesses in terms of security. UDI asks you never to send sensitive data or information of a private nature via email. Emails should preferably be used for simple questions.
Emails to UDI's Information Service
Information Service has a joint inbox for email.
All emails that Information Service personnel reply to are stored for one month and then deleted.
If the enquiry is of a more complex nature relating to regulations, it will be forwarded to the appropriate department. A copy of the enquiry is sent to the archive.
Registration forms
Registration forms at www.udi.no are used for various conferences and seminars organised by UDI.
Only the organiser, webmaster and administrator have access to the information you submit to UDI via registration form. The information is only used in connection with the event and is deleted once the event is over.

Accessibility
It is important to us to have a website that is as accessible and user-friendly as possible.
We therefore comply with the requirements of the Web Accessibility Initiative's (external website) guidelines for accessibility and the Agency for Public Management and eGovernment's (external website) requirements for public websites.
The following has been done to ensure accessibility:
- HTML5 and CSS 3 v are validated to the W3C standard.
- Document outline is used according to the standard, i.e. the hierarchy of the html document.
- All links and functions are available when navigating with the TAB key on the keyboard. They appear in a natural order and are clearly marked as active.
- Alternative texts are used to communicate the meaning of images where this is natural.
- If the user's browser does not support JavaScript, the user will be notified that the website works better with JavaScript. All content is nevertheless available without it.
- Relative sizes are used for all typography.
- ARIA regions are used to provide more information about the content of the different parts of the website. For example, navigation, searches and main content are highlighted, so that the user can go straight to them, provided that the tool supports this function.
- Coding and other solutions do not prevent the user from making his or her own adjustments to the website's appearance.
- The content is written to be as easy to read as possible.
- As far as possible, the design of the various elements on the site has been based on standard design principles.

PDFs and other file formats
Some content is published as PDFs or in other file formats.
We use special formats where it can be expedient and if a special design is required (for example forms to be filled in).

You need a program called Adobe Reader to read PDF files. The program is free, and you can download it from Adobe's website.
