If you are an employer for a foreign employee and would like to know whether the person you are employing is allowed to work in Norway, you can contact our advisory service.
Is your employee an EU/EEA national?
All EU/EEA nationals are entitled to work in Norway. You can check whether the worker is an EU/EEA national by asking him or her to show you his/her passport or national identity card from his/her home country. You do not need to ask the UDI.

The callback function closes on Tuesday 24 September 2024
Due to a technical restructuring of the UDI Information Service's telephone system, the option to choose callback (to be called back without losing your place in the queue) will unfortunately no longer be offered from Tuesday 24 September 2024.
This means that when you call UDI's Information Service, you must expect to have to wait in a queue if there is a lot of traffic on the line. We inform you in the telephone queue which number you have in the queue. For most case types, it is also possible to contact UDI's Information Service via chat.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the change.
When you call, you should choose the line regarding employment and studies, whether you have a question about the case of your employee or if you have questions regarding family members of your employee.
