Information to applicants from Afghanistan about handing in identity documents when applying from Pakistan
As of 15 March 2017, the Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad requires all applicants with Afghani passports to hand in their original passport when applying for all types of residence permits or visitor visas to Norway. If you do not have a passport, you need to hand in another ID document or an explanation as to why you are unable to submit any ID documents.
After you have submitted your ID document, you will receive written confirmation from the embassy to prove that you have handed it in.
Your passport or ID document will be returned to you after the embassy has properly checked the document. Your ID documents will normally be returned four working days after you submitted them to a VAC/Gerry’s office. Kindly note that the embassy will only return the documents to the VAC/Gerry’s office where you submitted the documents.
The embassy strongly advises against travelling out of Pakistan before getting your passport back, as you may not be able to re-enter Pakistan to pick up your passport. The embassy will not be able to send your documents by post outside Pakistan.
If you handed in your application before 15 March 2017, and you are granted a visa or a residence permit in Norway, the Embassy will thoroughly check your documents when you come to the embassy to have your visa issued. If there are any irregularities with the passport or ID document at that time, the embassy will refuse to issue the visa.
