General questions and answers about logging in
-
Where do I log in to My page?
Select "Log in to My page" at udi.no to log in to My page.
-
I cannot log in to My page. What should I do?
There may be various reasons why you are not able to log in.
Below are instructions for logging in with ID-porten and instructions for logging in with email and password.
-
Can I log in to My page with MinID?
No.You must log in using either ID-porten or e-mail and password. Only people with BankID, Commfides or Buypass (Norwegian electronic ID) can log in to My page using ID-porten. This is because UDI requires a higher security level (level 4) for logging in with ID-porten than what MinID has (level 3). We do this to secure your personal data as best as possible.
-
What is the difference between logging in with ID-porten and with e-mail?
Logging in using ID-porten offers several advantages:
- Provides extra security that no one else can access your information
- Access to all the services on My page
- No need to remember the e-mail and password you have used at UDI
Services that are only available if you log in with ID-porten:
- You can see the contact information we have registered on you
- You can see information about your residency in Norway and whether you have the right to work
- You can download a PDF with a confirmation that you have legal residency and the right to work
- Future services that may simplify the application process for you
We therefore recommend that everyone who can make use of logging in with ID-porten does this. The exception may be if you are going to apply on behalf of another person.
-
Can I move applications between user accounts?
No, it is not possible to migrate content from one user account to another.
When you log in with ID-porten, this is a new user account in the same way as if you have different user accounts with different e-mail addresses.
-
Do I have to log out, or am I automatically logged out from My page?
You are not automatically logged out until a certain amount of time has passed. It is therefore very important that you log out using the "log out" button when you have finished. This is particularly important if you are logged on to a shared PC that several people are using. This is to avoid your personal information becoming available to unauthorised persons.

I am going to apply on behalf of another person. Can I log in with ID-porten?
The person you are applying for will not have access to their own application. We therefore recommend that you use a username and password if you are applying for others. It is very important never to share your electronic ID with other people.
However, if you are applying on behalf of a close family member, such as your child, it may be convenient to use ID-porten. In that case, please be aware that you must also follow up the application until it has been processed. This means, among other things, that you must book an appointment with the police/SUA for the person on whose behalf you have applied.
In all other cases where you are applying on behalf of others, we recommend that you log in with your username and password and not with ID-porten.
You may create an application for people under the age of 18. If you need a confirmation of legal residency for your child, you must contact us.

Why am I not receiving the email with the verification code?
When you are creating a new user, or re-setting your password, you will receive an email. This email includes a code which you must copy and paste into the log-in window. The reason for this extra step is to confirm that you have typed in the correct email address.
If you have not received this e-mail, you should check the junk e-mail/spam filter, which can be found in most e-mail programs. If the email is not in the spam filter, you might have entered the wrong email address when you registered. Please try again and make sure you enter your email address correctly.
You must use the code you receive within a few minutes. After that it will no longer be valid.

I have lost access to my account. What do I do?
In the login window, you should always try to click on “Forgotten your password?” and choose a new password, to check if this solves the problem. If your account does not exist anymore, you will get a message which says that there is no account registered with this email address.
There might be different reasons why you have lost access to your account.
- If you have not been logged into your account for over two years, we have deleted it.
- If you have forgotten the password to the account and you no longer have access to the email address you used to create your account, you will not be able to access your account. In that case, you must create a new account.
Even if you have lost access to your account, any applications and information you submitted earlier will still be in our systems.

If you encounter problems and you are unable to find the details of your appointment, please contact the meeting point for your appointment: the police, the Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), the embassy or the VFS Application Centre.
If you have already handed in your application documents, we will process your application as normal, and you will not need to do anything more with your user account. If you have Digipost (external website), you will receive the decision there. Otherwise, you will receive it by regular post.
If you have submitted an application, but not yet booked an appointment, you have two choices. You can either contact the meeting point which you selected in your application and ask for an appointment or you can create a new user account and send in a new application.
