Persons who do not need a visa to visit Norway (visa-free)

Some people do not need a visa to visit Norway because they hold a passport from a country that Norway has a visa exemption agreement with. This also applies if you have a residence permit in an EU/EEA country or if you have a special passport.
Who does not need a visa?

- Citizens of all EU/EEA countries
- Citizens of the following countries outside the EU/EEA area:

Persons who already have a residence permit or visa in Norway
- Persons with a valid resident permit or permanent residence permit in Norway. You must bring your residence card and passport.
- Persons with a valid entry visa (D visa)

Persons with a residence permit in a country which has an agreement with Norway
- Persons with a residence permit in a Schengen country. They must bring their residence card and passport.
- Persons who have a residence card in a Schengen country, Ireland or Cyprus – because they have a family member who is a citizen of another EU/EEA country. They must bring their residence card and passport.
- School pupils who live in an EU country and participate in a school trip.

- Albanian diplomatic passports (applies to accredited ambassadors to Norway and their spouses and children only)
- Armenian diplomatic passports (applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway)
- Azerbaijani diplomatic passport (applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway)
- Bolivian diplomatic and service passports
- Chinese diplomatic passport (applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway)
- Georgian diplomatic passports (applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway)
- Indian diplomatic passports (applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway)
- Indonesian diplomatic and service passports (applies to diplomats who are not going to work at the embassy in Norway)

- Aviation personnel licences, for persons who are to travel to Norway and stay here in connection with international air traffic-related work.
- Local border traffic permit for people living in the Barents Region

Refugees with special travel documents
- Persons with refugee travel documents issued by Malta, Ireland, Liechtenstein, or Switzerland (it will be stated in the travel document that it is issued according to "UN Convention of 28 July 1951").
- Refugees or stateless persons living in an EU/EEA country who have travel documents issued by that country.

Seafarers with special travel documents
- Identity cards for seafarers issued by Algeria, Albania, Angola, Azerbaijan, Belize, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Belarus, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Jordan, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Madagascar, Morocco, Moldova, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Türkiye, Tunis, Ukraine or Vanuatu, when he or she is to take up or leave a position on a ship in a Norwegian harbour, or is a member of a ship’s crew and wishes to visit the harbour in which the ship is docked during shore leave
- The Philippine 'Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book' or ordinary Philippine passport (when the person is to sign on or off a ship in a Norwegian harbour)
- Travel documents for refugee seamen issued by: Australia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Morocco, Mauritius, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovenia, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden or Germany.
