The requirement for income
The requirement to financially support yourself applies to you who are between 18 and 67 years old. You must have had an income of at least
NOK 310 070
in total during the last 12 months before you hand in the application to the police.
It must be your own income. You cannot include your spouse’s or other family member’s income. You cannot include money that has been given to you or money in your bank account, either.
Only these types of incomes are approved:
- income from employment
- business income (from your own company)
- pension payments or permanent periodical benefits, for example earned interest and regular income from insurance settlements, contractual pensions, personal pension schemes, income from life insurance, rental income.
- sickness benefit, pregnancy benefit, parental benefit, retirement pension, unemployment benefit, work assessment allowance, single parent’s benefit.
- loans or grants received in connection with studies
- introduction benefit
You can have one or more of these types of income, but your total income must be at least
NOK 310 070
.
Other types of income from NAV are not approved, for example qualification benefit, employment schemes benefits, child benefit and lump-sum grant for a birth.
If you do not have enough of these types of income, please click on the "Reset all"-button, and choose that your income is less than
NOK 310 070
in order to check if you can be exempted from the requirement.
What if your income changes after you have submitted the application?
When we process your application, we will calculate your income for the last 12 months before you submitted your application for a permanent residence permit to the police.
If you met the income requirement for the last 12 months at the time you submitted your application, it will not matter if your income changes afterwards, if every requirement were met at the time of application.
